Why attend a regional conference?
Regional conferences are a great way for you and your students to share ideas with colleagues, get involved and learn more about orientation/retention and transition services for a fraction of the cost of an annual conference.  We have planned programs and events for both professional and student staff.  Your registration fee covers three meals, all your materials, and an unforgettable experience in Virginia's New River Valley.

Roll Call
Bring it on!  Saturday morning will kick off with a bang when each school will have a chance to introduce themselves to the Region!  You can sing or chant your school's fight song, a traditional cheer, or create your own masterpiece to introduce your school and Orientation Leaders.  You are encouraged to show your school pride by wearing school gear.  Feel free to bring stickers, your school flag or any other way to show off your spirit!

Swap Shop
Now's the perfect time to grab some goodies from other schools to take back to your institution.  Bring extra orientation and school shirts, caps buttons, cups or whatever you want to trade with other conference attendees.  Let the swap begin!

GR8 Ideas: The Idea Marketplace
Looking for some new ideas to spice up your publications? Come to the idea marketplace.  Bring copies of any publications your institution creates and pick up ideas from other schools.  The more submissions the merrier.

Community Services Project (NEW INFORMATION!!!)
The National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) in Region VIII is hosting its annual conference in Blacksburg, VA, and we need your help! As part of our conference, we will be doing a community service project for Project Linus, a non-profit organization that provides new, handmade blankets and afghans to seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need children. This organization relies entirely on volunteers, and in order to create the blankets, each volunteer will need 1 ˝ yards of fleece.

We are hoping that you and your business may be able to contribute a monetary or fabric donation to our service project. Any contribution you can make will be greatly appreciated. Project Linus is an important cause and NODA Region VIII’s way of giving back to the larger community. Donations can be given to [your name] directly or sent to the conference co-host at the address below by March 16, 2007. Checks should be made payable to NODA.

We hope we can count on your support!

Icebreakers Galore
Looking for some new ideas for your students and staff? During a selected break out session, students will be able to present icebreaker ideas and practice facilitating with other orientation staff members.  Submit your icebreaker with the proposal form in this packet!  All selected icebreakers will be compiled for institutions to take home and utilize.

GR8 Awards
During the conference we will present both undergraduate and professional staff awards to students and staff who excel in their positions and make an impact on their campuses.  Nomination forms can be found in this packet.
